Our Philosophy

Since the 1950s, the expert doctors at Pediatrics of Akron have provided nothing but the best pediatric primary health care to our many young patients from birth through college age. We dedicate ourselves to the well-being of all children in the greater Akron area.

We believe that every child and family is unique. We seek to promote optimal growth and development as your child grows to become an independent, caring individual.

We attempt to bring the most up-to-date scientific information to the practice of pediatrics as well as the art of medicine and compassion learned in a combined 175 years of experience.

Just take a walk through our Hall of Pictures and you will see all the wonderful families and culture of our practice.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends regular well child exams and immunizations from infancy through adolescence. Accordingly, we recommend a comprehensive yearly physical to provide an assessment of your child's development as well as immunization updates.

We have well, sick and rash waiting rooms to decrease infectious exposure. Inside parking is available along with onsite laboratory screening and laboratory, pharmacy, and direct access to wide range of pediatrics services in our downtown office.Onsite parking is available at our Cuyahoga Falls office.

Toys and stickers are highlights for the children and they love to see Lucky Ladybug!

Our Philosophy on Immunizations

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends regular well child exams and immunizations from infancy through adolescence. Accordingly, we recommend a comprehensive yearly physical to provide an assessment of your child's development as well as immunization updates.

Realizing there has been much discussion about immunizations in the media and on the Internet, we at Pediatrics of Akron have developed the following brief statement on our philosophy on immunizations so you may understand our views, beliefs, and current recommendations.

We at Pediatrics of Akron strongly believe our mission is to provide the highest quality care to all children. We also believe it is our responsibility and privilege to work with parents to keep all of our children safe and healthy. It is our responsibility to help parents sort out the enormous amount of information about immunizations in the mainstream media. The following represents our philosophy regarding immunizations.

We at Pediatrics of Akron firmly believe:

  • In the safety of our immunizations.
  • In the effectiveness of immunizations to prevent serious illness and to save lives.
  • All children and young adults should receive all the recommended immunizations according to the published scheduled by the CDC and AAP.
  • Based on available literature, evidence and scientific studies, immunizations do not cause autism, or other developmental disabilities.
  • Immunizing children and young adults is the single most important health promoting intervention we perform as health care providers.
  • In light of the recent outbreaks of certain vaccine preventable diseases we cannot recommend forgoing immunizations, alternative vaccine schedules or lengthy delays in vaccine administration. This puts not only your child at risk but other children in our waiting rooms and in our community.

We thank you for taking the time to read this statement and hope it clearly defines our philosophy regarding immunizations. As parents ourselves, we appreciate the responsibility you have to your children to provide the best care for them as they grow and develop. We hope that this information has been helpful and we have several resources available upon request that discuss immunization issues in more detail.
